The article explores symbolic systems as a special type of complex systems. The relationship between the concepts of “sign” and “symbol” and symbolic means are analyzed. Four research methods of analyzing a language as a symbolically symbolic system are investigated: linguistic, semiotic, systemic and informational. The article describes the symbolic system using the information approach and demonstrates the presence of emergence in sign-symbolic systems. The article shows that a sign-symbolic system is best described as an informational construction. The main functions of sign-symbolic systems are the following: representation, communication, information and externalization of implicit knowledge.Refference:
